Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Our host knew the menu inside and out; we were so grateful we got to understand Ilocano cuisine better The food was super innovative and delicious but I’m not sure why it wasn’t warm enough. My sister pointed out the same thing too. Makan is secluded from the more busy part of the town, so it might be a little confusing to get there, but just trust google maps Quite an eclectic decor not hard to see that the owner is a huge skate fan, they had a skate pool right next to a swimming pool."
"The best resto I have ever tried. Others say they’re quite expensive, but for me it’s, definitely worth it! They did a great job adding creative twists to classic Ilocano dishes. They have great food and coffee and they likewise have a great cocktail selection!! Would definitely come back to LU just for Makan"
"My girlfriend and I super loved the place! We actually stumbled upon the restaurant while we were scrolling through TikTok—looking for date night restos we thought we'd give it a try because the place seemed secluded and quiet. Our favorite was the Tuna dish or Imbaliktad! It really hit all the good spots and we'd honestly go back to the restaurant just to order it again The Sinanglaw was also yummy—the beef was soft and well-seasoned; the broth really tied everything together! 9/10 restaurant for me—didn't give it a 10 because I still want to try their other dishes when we're in the area"
"will definitely come baaack!!! i love their foods, and plus points for their serviceeee. they are pet friendly! i love how you could enjoy the beach view while having a delicious meaal."
"One of my go-to spots whenever I’m in La Union is Makan and Eliseos. I really love how you can feel the effort they put into every single dish. When we came back, the Sapsapuriket I tried last year wasn’t on the menu anymore, and honestly I was looking forward to it because I missed it so much. They said they’ve updated their menu, but I still appreciate that they keep exploring and switching things up. It makes every visit a little different. The staff were friendly and playful too. Maybe just a matter of reading the room, but I appreciate that they check in, ask how the food is, and explain the dishes when needed. If you’re heading to La Union, you really shouldn’t miss eating here. Definitely worth it. :)"
"C'est fameux! The sinanglaw was just excellent and from there everything followed suit. We had the ribeye dinakdakan, poqui pqui, chicken pinikpikan and tuna poke poki. These selections are a must have! Don't go there without trying these!"
"Went to Makan at Eliseos in San Juan, La Union and it turned out to be well worth the trip. Getting there at dinner time means trusting Google Maps or Waze, but if you follow the directions you will arrive without issue. The place has a great atmosphere and since there are villas and rooms on the property, it feels lively even if you are there just to eat. We ordered a spread of local dishes including okoy, poqui poqui, dinakdakan, sinaglaw, pinakbet, and a whole fish dish that was absolutely excellent even if I can no longer recall its exact name. We ended the meal with mais na yelo which was a perfect finish. Everything we tried was very good and after many trips to Elyu, Makan easily makes it into my top three places to eat in the area."
"absolutely loved the place, even though small they had lots of instagrammable spots. you can also use the pool even as a restaurant guest. loved the food especially their sinanglaw and imbaliktad (like a tuna sashimi). best time to go here is during the day or sunset."
